Accomplishments

Carol Pasinkoff, G-PACT volunteer and member of the Board of Directors, testified before the FDA in October 2012. Due to her testimony, the FDA selected gastroparesis as one of only 20 diseases to be addressed in the Patient-Focused Drug Development meetings that will be held for gastroparesis on May 11, 2015.  In addition, G-PACT was chosen as the advocacy organization to collect data for the PFDD.

As a result of G-PACT's hard work, the passion of our followers, and the efforts of Medtronic, Medicare reversed their decision to stop covering idiopathic gastroparesis as a primary diagnosis. Many patients would no longer be able to receive care if we had not gotten this decision reversed.

We lobby at DDNC every March and have made some political connections that show interest in supporting our cause.

G-PACT has worked hard to obtain sponsors and votes for legislation proposed by IFFGD to obtain funding for research of motility disorders.

While exhibiting at the Oley Conference, members of the TSA walked up to our booth and said "G-PACT! We know G-PACT! You have been REALLY helpful in helping us learn the needs of patients who need to travel with medical supplies". We have been one of the most active organizations with the TSA in the midst of much larger organizations, and it was nice to be recognized as one that has helped them make some policy changes to make it easier for patients to travel with tubes, lines and other medical needs.

We are formal members of the DDNC (Digestive Disease National Coalition) and serve as a member on their Board. We are also members of the ANMS (American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society) and we presented at their annual patient/physician symposium in July 2012. We work closely with other non-profits such as the Oley Foundation, ThriveRx, Scleroderma Foundation, and other legal, respected non-profits who have a vested interest in our patients. We are also affiliated with a number of professional companies such as Medtronic, Tranzyme Pharma, and others researching DTP.

As our health and funds permit, G-PACT attends and exhibits at both the Oley Conference and DDW (Digestive Disease Week).
