Diabetic Gastroparesis
Diabetes, which affects 23.6 million Americans, is a complex and challenging disease that can lead to serious and occasionally life-threatening complications. One of the most common of these complications is Neuropathy: a poorly understood and often overlooked form of nerve damage that interferes with the function of the body tissues involved. When neuropathy involves the Vagus nerve, the result is gastroparesis. In fact, of all the known underlying causes of gastroparesis, diabetes is the most common.
