DDW 2009:

Not surprisingly, DDW was an incredible experience for G-PACT once again. After 5 years of not attending, it was refreshing and exciting to once again be able to participate in this event. We were able to connect with many physicians and researchers. Some knew quite a bit about the conditions and G-PACT, while others were interested in learning. Comments were made on the professionalism of our booth and overall presentation. On Tuesday evening, we were invited to attend a reception held by Medtronic which gave us to opportunity to reconnect with previous contacts and meet others we have recently spoken with over the phone but had not met in person. It was exciting to re-establish and develop new dialogue with them.

Not only were we able to provide a lot of awareness and education to medical professionals, but we also learned quite a bit ourselves about what is going on in the motility world. We learned about current research studies, new and easier testing procedures, and some new products being developed. Our presence also allowed us to connect with other organizations sharing similar interests and those who deal with our patients for other reasons outside of GP and CIP. Networking is so crucial in raising awareness and DDW allowed us the opportunity to do just that! Since DDW, our contacts have increased and we have additional projects to begin focusing on. Overall the event was more successful than anticipated and we will be attending again in 2010 in New Orleans. We want to thank all of you who contributed in any way making it possible for us to attend DDW. Without your support, we would not have been so successful in moving awareness forward!
