G-PACT's Media
Awareness Campaign
G-PACT
is working to increase awareness of Gastroparesis among the
general population. By drawing attention to this condition,
we increase the odds of gaining more interest in GP research
that could lead to better treatments or a cure! In order to
inform the public of this devastating condition, it is vital
that the media be made aware of Gastroparesis and the needs
of people who suffer from it on a daily basis.
Please help us by printing and personalizing our media
letter by including a brief statement on how GP has affected
your life. A sample letter is included below to help guide
you through the process. Letters will be accumulated and
mailed to top notch television programs and printed
publications such as Dateline, 20/20, Oprah, Larry King,
Montel, The View, Time, O!, among others. The more people
who participate, the greater the chance of our being noticed
and selected to share the effects of this disabling
condition with the world. You may also submit this letter
through our online form located at
www.g-pact.org/awarenessletterform.htm.
Please note that this information will only be used for this
purpose. G-PACT will in no way sell your story for profit,
and it will only be used in the manner described above to
increase awareness. You do not need to provide your contact
information if you are not comfortable doing so, but it does
validate your letter even more. You may or may not be
contacted to participate in an interview, and you have the
right to decline any such request. G-PACT reserves the right
to reject any letter deemed inappropriate or not effective
for this cause.
Please mail all letters to:

Dear (We
will fill this in for each contact. Please leave blank),
All over
the world there are people suffering from an illness that
causes severe malnutrition because they can not eat without
feeling sick. Gastroparesis is an illness that affects over
1.5 million people just in the United States. Unfortunately
it often is misdiagnosed because few doctors truly
understand what it is.
Essentially it is a chronic illness that paralyzes the
stomach causing a delay in emptying. One-third of people
diagnosed with Gastroparesis never find out what caused it.
Not only does it cause severe physical illness, but also
impacts an individual’s quality of life. I am writing you
because this is a serious illness that people need to be
educated about and an area in which awareness needs to be
increased.
Here is
where you write your story or the story of a friend or
family member who has experienced Gastroparesis. Be
brief…remember less can be more!
For more
personal stories and information on Gastroparesis please
visit
www.g-pact.org. People are aware of cancer and heart
disease, it is time they know about Gastroparesis. Thank you
for taking the time to learn about this chronic illness. I
hope that you will consider doing a story about
Gastroparesis to help increase awareness of this
debilitating condition.
If you
feel comfortable include your contact information and
statement that they should feel free to contact you.
Sincerely,
